Isobel Moore – Marketing Work Experience Blog
Isobel Moore | 4th September 2023
Hi, my name is Isobel, and I am currently halfway through a two-year course at City College Plymouth studying business; To achieve my level 3 qualification I must complete work experience that is relevant to my future career. I have been on a work experience placement since April, working two days a week in addition to my full-time studies and part-time customer service assistant job at Tesco.
Starting at Bright Solicitors
Since I started working at Bright Solicitors, my main role has been as a marketing assistant which I have really enjoyed so far. Being 18, I have found it so interesting being in a professional workplace as it is very different to anything I have done before.
Day-to-day Marketing Responsibilities
Some of my responsibilities have included replying to client reviews on both Google and Review Solicitors – I have had to ensure I have remained professional while I’ve been representing the firm with these responses. I have then taken some of the reviews and created social media posts to display the excellent reviews and mention who was in them.
Being creative has been a key part of my role. I have created a range of content for social media, such as for the Kings Coronation, advertising our services and ‘Meet the Team’ posts. In addition to this, I was also given the responsibility of creating an information pack for new starters to introduce them to the firm. While doing this I not only had to focus on branding and making the document look appealing but also that appropriate information was included. To do this I had to speak to different people within the firm to get a better understanding of the firm. I also created an information leaflet for the Private Client team to display their services to potential clients which required a lot of research to better my understanding.
As well as creating social media advertisement posts for each department, I also remade the display video to play in the window of reception showing who oversees each team and what services we offer. This means that people walking past the office are easily able to see how we can help them.
Additional Support
In addition to my marketing role, I have also been given the opportunity to occasionally work in reception doing admin tasks. This includes answering the phone and understanding the phone system to transfer clients to the correct person, scanning post, using confidential systems to input client information as well as being the first people clients see when they arrive. This has helped my confidence so much as I have been answering the phones and talking to people from all areas of the firm.
My Time at Bright Solicitors So Far
I have really enjoyed my time so far at Bright Solicitors and look forward to spending more time working here. When I first began working here, I was worried about being surrounded by people much older than me and how I would enjoy the social side of working in an open office, but I can’t even explain how friendly everyone has been.
