Matt specialises in corporate matters assisting owners on various corporate events including restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, demergers, employee ownership trust buyouts and day-to-day corporate activities.
Matt brings a wealth of commercial experience to his practice and seeks to achieve the best outcome for his clients by getting a better understanding of their needs and aspirations, so that he and his team can truly add value to their clients’ businesses. He is a firm believer in building successful long-term relationships and taking a pragmatic and commercial approach to issues, which is aided by his approachable manner on client work.
Matt joined Bright Solicitors in 2007 and has built a large client following of predominantly owner managed businesses throughout the UK.
Relevant experience includes:
– Advising London and Plymouth based Darwin Acquisitions and The Key Support Services Limited on acquisition of educational software firm Ortoo Technologies;
– Advising shareholders in the sale of The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, one of Plymouth’s landmark buildings and selling from a list price of £6m to Singapore based Fragrance Group;
– Assisting South East air conditioning company in the demerger of its businesses. The transaction involved a company group value of £45m and involved the transfer of property and business assets allowing subsequent disposals;
– Advising on the sale of one of the UK’s largest affiliate market companies in sale to private equity backed US buyer;
– Demerger of £50m+ South West based property holding company into 7 separate businesses;
– Sale of online business Mutts & Hounds to The Scram Group.
