Since joining the firm in 2020, Alex has built a reputation for providing clear, commercial and strategic advice to individuals, businesses, landlords and property owners involved in complex disputes. He leads our dedicated and experienced Disputes & Litigation team .
Alex specialises in property litigation and contentious property matters, advising clients on a wide range of disputes including boundary disputes, rights of way disagreements, easements, restrictive covenants and commercial property disputes. He is particularly experienced in acting for both landlords and tenants in relation to dilapidations claims, breaches of covenant, lease disputes, forfeiture proceedings and break notice disputes, helping clients protect their property interests and achieve practical, cost-effective outcomes.
In addition to his property litigation practice, Alex advises businesses and individuals on contract disputes, professional negligence claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, and wider commercial litigation matters. His broad dispute resolution experience enables him to provide commercially focused advice that considers both the legal and practical implications of a dispute.
Alex is committed to a client-focused approach and understands that litigation can be disruptive, time-consuming and stressful. Wherever possible, he seeks to resolve matters through negotiation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), helping clients avoid the cost and uncertainty of court proceedings. When litigation is unavoidable, he provides confident, proactive representation and supports clients through every stage of the court process.
Alex maintains a strong interest in developments affecting property owners, landlords and businesses, regularly keeping abreast of the latest property law developments and best practice guidance published by organisations such as the Law Society’s Property Hub.
Before returning to his home city of Plymouth, Alex worked at a leading top ten offshore law firm in the Channel Islands, gaining valuable experience advising on high-value and complex disputes. Today, he leads Bright Solicitors’ Disputes & Litigation Team, delivering trusted legal advice to clients across Plymouth, Devon and the South West.
